  • Bio

French-Israeli artist Jessica Moritz graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Paris (ENSBA). In 2006, she won the LVMH young artist award and in 2008 the TAKASAGO prize.

In her vibrant work, the artist aims to create order in chaos and establish an equilibrium of harmony. Moritz currently lives and works in Tel Aviv, where clear traces of the Bauhaus movement are still to be found in the architecture of the city - this compelled the artist to do research into colour theory, a mission that led her to formulate her own unique vision, inspired by Bauhaus artists such as Josef Albers. Moritz is specifically fascinated by the transcendent and captivating qualities of light. She aims to create a utopian architecture of balanced geometry in which her objects can be seen as portals to a different plane of existence, a sphere in which the rational mind becomes obsolete.

Sustainability is central to Moritz's artistic practice. The artist works with reclaimed materials that she gathers on her trips and transforms to give them a new purpose and to avoid senseless consumerism.
