Verena Wyss is a Switzerland-based visual artist. She was originally trained as a photo specialist as well as in Colour Design at the Swiss Textile College in St. Gallen. Her more recent work focuses on acrylics and mixed media, which yield on the canvas as vibrant abstractions.

The artist's perception of inner as well as outer world forms the basis of her painterly work. Driven by an endless curiosity to create new, colourful, and pictorial constellations, her canvases can be presented in different positions and are deeply layered. One on top of the other, these layers converge from different directions, rendered in gestural brushstrokes or large filled areas.

Wyss enjoys using shapes, surfaces and structures with an organic or amorphous character. Each work contains a personal pictorial space, which is the result of a long process formed by questioning and reflection.
