Thetis is a former recipe developer, children’s cookbook author and illustrator. The artist was born on the island of Elba, amid the crystalline water of Tuscany. Her name comes from Greek mythology, where Thetis mainly appears as a sea nymph, a goddess of water and mother of Achilles.
Thetis always loved creating healthy, delicious foods - mostly cakes, nice-creams and smoothie bowls, but at some point she started to paint because she wanted her creations to be real and ageless. She likes to use heavy body paint to add three dimensional effects to her paintings, and to recreate the fluffy textures of food. In her work, she often creates amusing stories as a form of escapism from the real world - a comforting illusionary reality.
Now a full-time artist, Thetis lives and works in London, UK.
