Katie Voyt creates captivating abstract paintings with layered washes, transparency, geometrical forms and a variety of textures and materials such as acrylics, oil pastels, graphite and markers.
Her paintings are bold, free and emotional. They break the boundaries of the rectangular frame, creating a sense of movement and energizing the space around them. The artist has moved away from the traditional rectangular shape and its historical reference to a window, which places the viewer outside the work looking in. Instead, she gives a unique shape to her observations, thoughts and memories, creating a dialogue with both the viewer and the architectural space surrounding it.
The artist currently lives and paints in her home studio in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
