For many artists, childhood forms a primary source of inspiration. For Pierre Jungers, it’s rather the teenage years that are his main subject matter. It was around this age that the artists went through a rather tough time and started to escape into a fantasy world inspired by a time he never really experienced.
After getting deeply immersed into the music and cinematographic revival of the 80s, he became fascinated with the Synthwave movement. Jungers decided to exteriorize this synthetic nostalgia in his artistic practice by placing the aesthetics of the 80s and 90s at the heart of his creations.
Combining the old fashioned color spectrum with rudimentary shapes and abstract graphic design, he reveals an evocative world – the imagined utopia of a bygone time. With this visceral sense of nostalgia, the artists aims to touch upon the viewer’s most personal memories and emotions.
