Niki Hare is a self-taught artist living and working in the UK. Projects include large-scale printed murals for Area Environments in Minneapolis, snowboard design for Burton, a large-scale painting for the exterior of Hilton Bankside in London, and 55 commissioned paintings for The Mason, a new development in Chicago.
The word paintings are first and foremost about expressing emotions that can be hard to express, the work is personal and sometimes the words are then buried or layered over, but still, they have been said. The use of colour, transparency and layering also creates a new form of visual language. There is a sense of depth and movement, some words stand forwards, some fade back, creating a narrative within the words that extends far beyond the meaning of individual words themselves.
