Leonardo Gambini was born in the green hills of the Marche region in Italy. Already at an early age, he dedided to move to Rome and Milan for his painting. Finally, he settled in Milan and earned a double degree in painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. The artist has been using spray paints since the age of 10, but only recently has he completed reinvented his style of painting in favour of this new vision that can be related to the "post graffiti" movement.
The "Street" series is a project that was born in 2017.
The artist explains: My first steps in the art world were in street art, which I abandoned for a few years when I arrived in Milan. During that period, I explored techniques that helped me find a new personal artistic path and I moved away from the portrait genre. In the "Street" project I want to give shape to recognizable graphics. The forms I create are not born by chance, but are the union of structures that communicate a single, strong and indestructible body. This is idea is realized on all kinds of surfaces from “classic" walls to canvas. The inspiration for the project comes from my travels during which I like to observe how art is interpreted in various cultures. I use that to recreate my own personal interpretation. In my artistic research color plays a central role as a tool to transmit energy to those who observe my works.
