Fernando Barrientos is a self-taught artist from El Salvador. He currently resides in Washington DC, where he goes to University and creates his artworks. Barrientos has always been fascinated by the illusionary aspect of photorealistic artworks, and a few years ago he decided to create his own. His realistic drawings are made with colored pencils on cotton paper. The choice of subjects is dependent on what he feels drawn to at the time; often, he uses his technique to magnify smaller objects, to recreate them on a much larger scale. The artist approaches every new drawing as a challenge to learn the connection between the dimensions, depth and colors of his subject.
